Are you ready for an Upgrade Part 5 by Geoffrey Leak

A new upcoming author my cousin, Geoffrey Leak. Many marriages lack spice and love, enjoy todays post as our author intrigues us with a short story that is so true in many marriages. God Bless You! Wes & Neesha

Travis and Stacy Strickland had been married 10yrs before they realized that their life together was becoming run of the mill and boring. They both loved each other but hadn’t noticed before then that work, children, and just the things of life slowly had them becoming nothing more than roommates, and at times they weren’t even good at that.

They both tried at different times to correct the others mistakes and point out what the other needed to do to fix things in their marriage but most times the conversations fell on deaf ears or didn’t reach the root of their issue’s with one another.

This all changed a few months before their 10yr anniversary, when Travis knew they had to make changes in their life or do the unthinkable. He prayed to God and asked for his marriage to be rekindled and for the fun to be brought back. Especially in the bed room!

Stacy had the same prayer for God. She knew something had to change. She desperately wanted to see that smile that she fell in love with back on her husband’s face every time he saw or thought about her. All she knew was that her needs were not being met emotionally and though Travis thought it was on purpose, she just couldn’t bring herself to satisfy her husband sexually. And so the cycle continued.

One day while returning home from a long day at work Travis walked through the door to see Stacy still in her work out attire while preparing dinner.
“Sorry honey, dinner will be ready in a few minutes. I had a full day today but I had to get my workout in.”

“It’s cool. I’m just going to run up and shower. I had a crazy day today showing the 15th house to Ms. Strong. And she still only saw 1 that met her standards. If the market was like it was even 3yrs ago I would have told her to find someone else or live on the street for all I care.”

Stacy laughed.
“I see I need to do more praying for you. You know that isn’t Christ like”
“Well, Jesus was a carpenter. Let Him build her a house. That’s the only way Ms. Strong will be satisfied.” They both had a good laugh as Travis true to himself walked the line of saint and sinner.

As Travis turned to go upstairs to shower and get in clothes more comfortable, he noticed Stacy leaning as she set the table for dinner. It had been a while since he had noticed how blessed she was in the physical department. They had two children and for a while he thought Stacy had let herself go. And no longer looked like Beyoncé in the music videos. Not noticing at all the extra 10 pounds that found its way on to his stomach.

Travis decided not to go the usual route and make a comment that was sure to upset his wife.
“Sweetie, you are looking good. I definitely see a difference in all your hard work at the gym.”
Stacy was so shocked he didn’t grope at her and tell her she needs to work a little harder she didn’t say a word at first. Just before Travis turned and walked away, Stacy told him how much that meant to her.

Stacy jumped on the phone to call her best friend Rebecca Samuels. She told her friend of the compliment she just got and how he acted like he wanted nothing in return. Stacy turned to her friend because she was not only a Christian but had a marriage that she desired.
Rebecca reminded her of the prayer that Stacy had been praying for and suggested they fill out a small questionnaire that would tell them exactly what the other needed to be fulfilled. She also suggested for them to read the 5 Love Languages, this is what helped her marriage be as strong as it is today.
“Did that really work for you? We have been going to a marriage retreat of some friends that suggested we do the same. But we never bothered to do any of it for one reason or another.”

“Listen, since Travis is so good at investments then I think filling out a questionnaire and buying a book is definitely worth the investment in your marriage. I’m not saying it still wasn’t hard work and that we didn’t have to apply EVERY MEHTHOD that the book offered but it has been a major help to our marriage. Trust me Eric was not the man you see today, 5yrs ago.” They both laughed a while.
“And I wasn’t the wife I needed to be to him.

After taking the online questionnaire and both working hard to become the people and marriage that God wanted them to be, a major change came about. Before long Travis began to seek out the needs and desires of his wife without her asking him for them. He decided that if he could work as hard as he did for Ms. Strong and others like her the least he could do is put the same effort in to the woman of his dreams.
In return for his leadership in these areas of the marriage, Stacy was able to let her guard down and become the supportive and sexy wife that Travis desired.

On their anniversary Travis made plans for them to slip away for the weekend and had all the plans worked out in advance which was a load off of Stacy’s mind. He didn’t tell her a thing of what was to come because he wanted her to be surprised on every turn, and she was.

Stacy had a little surprise of her own for Travis. Though they started working out together, Stacy found time to work out a little dance routine for her husband that he was sure to love for their special day. That night in their hotel room Stacy walked out of the bathroom with something on she knew Travis would love and pushed play on the stereo system. Beyoncé song “Up Grade” came on and Travis’s smile was so big his cheeks began to hurt.
