Take Them Out!

June 21, 2010 by

This time of year, with all of its’ beauty, has its’ pestilence. A lone fly buzzing around you can be more than a pest, it can be a disturbance to an otherwise perfect day. And because they are have feelers that can sense our coming, before we can move – it is very hard to get rid of them! We have to be focused, we have to be strategic, and we have to move with skill to take them out!

Many times we have “pests” in our life that are not two or four-footed creatures; they are situations and problems that we find both distracting and disturbing. Some of our “pest” we have to live with, they are those things that may “try our soul” but they are necessary for our growth. Some things however are like those flies buzzing around – we need to deal with them and take them out:

6-7So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

He Gets the Last Word
8-11Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.
1 Peter 5:6-11 (MSG)

Doubt, fear, unbelief – these are pestilence trying to distract us fom our faith. We have to take those pests out! The problem is so often we open a door with no screen on it – and we let them in! That screen is a daily dose of God’s word – that screen is rising early and confessing God’s Word over your day – your season – your family – your work!

We have “summers” in our life when the sun is shining, the gentle breeze is blowing, and flowers are surrounding us – but know this – mosquitoes and flies are hard to see with the naked eye – but they have weapons that can be definitely annonying -and some carry deadly diseases – stay alert, and always be ready to strike back and take those pestilence out!

Selah,
Maria
