Revival Doesn't Just Happen!
Most of us as believers are concerned about the state of affairs in our nation. If we make an open assessment of what is at the root of the senseless killings of our youth, the breakdown of our communities, the faltering character of our leaders – it all points to a nation of people determined to live without God. Time and time again through the ages nations have fallen into moral and eventually political decay because they failed to “guard their hearts.”
When we look at those times in Israel’s history – a nation God carved out for Himself, we find that when they failed to honor God and His decrees, eventually they fell victim to neighbors who overtook them and brought them into bondage. One thing that is well documented about Americans is they are not very knowledgeable about their history and government, but they do not believe that America will fall victim to another nation. Far too many people believe that somehow if we leave the rest of the world alone, they will leave us alone.
Sadly, it’s the same with the moral base of this country. Far too many believe if they “live right” and don’t bother anybody else, they will somehow be left alone – and no one will bother them. It’s like the frog in the hot water, because the temperature is going up just a few degrees at a time, we fail to see that we are being “cooked” on the altar of a nation that is taking God out of its’ conscience.
Revival does not just happen – God’s people have to pray for it! People don’t just get a conviction to stand up for what is right – most of us have to have evil thrown in our faces, before we get enough of it, and far too often it’s as a result of one of our loved ones falling victim to the ploy of the enemy!
Twenty-five years ago there was a preacher on the Southside of Chicago who decided that his family, his congregation, and his community needed to be educated concerning God’s plan for the family. Taking a biblical perspective, he began to “cry aloud and spare not” – in pursuit of the sanctity of life and the biblical authority of the family. That man was Rev. Hiram C. Crawford, and from his post at 76th and Cottage Grove he drew a line in the sand, and declared that no longer would people be ignorant to the way the enemy was advancing to destroy God’s best gifts – the gift of life and the gift of family.
On Saturday, April 24, 2010, Pro-Life/Pro-Family Coalition will celebrate its’ 25th anniversary with a day-long conference at the Monument of Faith Church in Chicago, Illinois. The keynote speaker will be the late Rev. Crawford’s son, Dr. Paul Crawford, a nephrologist who practices medicine on the southside of Chicago. In addition to Dr. Crawford, workshops will be led by our own Chosen Daughters of Destiny and many other great speakers.
