In the Absence of Fathers

April 14, 2010

Yesterday I began a post about a topic that is seldom discussed, but one that strongly impacts the church. Many believers are looking for Fathers (and Mothers) who will mentor and support them as they attempt to follow what they believe is a “call” from God for ministry. All to well I remember the struggles I had a new believer attempting to find both meaning and balance in this “fire shut up in my bones” that “would not leave me alone.” How was I going to manage my young growing family and fulfill the obligations of ministry. This was not a struggle that lasted a few weeks, this was an ongoing battle for years! read more...

Don’t Be Suprised if You Get a Kick!

April 12, 2010

We can learn so many things about life if we look at nature. We all know of how mother birds will bring food to their baby birds, and after she feels they are ready, will kick them out of the nest so they can get food for themselves. Most of us have heard the expression regarding a grown child staying too long in the nest, and how parents need to kick them out! read more...

It's A Son-shiny Day!

April 10, 2010

One of the most marvelous things about being a Christian is that even when you lose, you win! Every day may not have the sun shinning and the rainbow in the sky from a physical perspective, but every day with Jesus IS sweeter than the day before. For even when the sun doesn’t shine, fi we let Him, the SON will shine in our lives, even when He’s giving us a time-out! read more...

It's All in the Book! We're All in the Book!

Even though I am an educator by profession, I would be the first person to say that I am really learned. There is much more that I don’t know, than what I do know. What I do know however, by the grace of God, is how to find out what I need to know, when I need to know it! The best way we can ensure the next generation that they will have a good knowledge base, with the vast bodies of knowledge in the world today, is to give them tools to be able to probe and explore databases, archives, and other resources; as well as critically analyze the information in those resources to determine its’ validity. read more...

Knowing When to Hold, and When to Fold!

April 7, 2010

I just read an article in Leadership Journal, a division of Christianity Today.com. It was an article on some of the worst pitfalls a leader can exerience. Not the most invigorating way to begin the morning. And yet, this article as painful as it was to see the many things that this pastor endured, it did have a silver lining – for it was those experiences that brought him to a place of decision – decision that brought about change in both his life and that of his church. read more...

Resurrection in Unepected Places!

April 5, 2010

Well friends, I finally got my computer back. They tell me it’s all fiixed – I should have no problems. Time will tell. What makes me hesitate is they acted as if the problem was all in my head – that short of needing a new hard drive – there was nothing else wrong with the computer. Not being a computer tech – all I could do was relay the symptoms, not determine the cure. read more...
