His Name is Wonderful!
If you were looking for a post (and I hope you were) – I took a couple of days off to fully give myself to a couple of tasks at hand. Our Pro-Life/Pro-Family conference was the best ever! Over three hundred people came and basked in the presence of a great message and wonderful fellowship!
We are gearing up with the various ministries that collaborate with HeartLife Ministries and this week we will update our events to include all the events that are in the making, also I will be listing some important dates and events on tomorrow’s post.
Today, however, I was struck by the following passage:
17 Then Manoah said to the Angel of the LORD, “What is Your name, that when Your words come to pass we may honor You?”
18 And the Angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?” Judges 13:17-19 (NKJV)
One thing that happens when you read through the Bible – you will see things that you never remember reading before – you have opportunities for a whole new set of Rhema words! This word stood out to me because of this very familiar passage of Judges which introduces us to the parents of Samson. What caught my eye was the request of the parents to God to send the messenger back, who had announced to this barren woman that she would have a special child, so that they both could understand how to raise this child.
How wonderful that would be, if every parent requested of the Lord how to raise their children? How wonderful it would be, if we would petition God to give us specific instructions, so that we don’t miss it!
When I saw the response the angel of the Lord gave to Manoah when he asked him his name, I thought of the passage in Isaiah that describes one of the names of Jesus as Wonderful! Thinking of this, I saw again the marvelous seamless thread of God’s Word – He is the same, yesterday, today, and forevermore! When I looked at another version (the Amplified) it reads like this:
18 “Why do you ask my name?” the angel of the Lord replied. “It is too wonderful for you to understand.”
Either way you look at it, this passage speaks volumes to me, whether his name is Wonderful, all by itself, or whether the name is TOO WONDERFUL TO UNDERSTAND, we see the great and mighty God at work, and in direct communication with a simple man and woman. God, WHO IS Wonderful, is WONDERFUL enough to come and sup with us. Just like when He walked with Adam in the cool of the day before the Fall, He yet longs to commune with us today – I take comfort in that, I find it TOO WONDERFUL TO UNDERSTAND, but I’m OH SO GRATEFUL THAT HE DOES!
