Don't Get Confused, It's Not Your Work!

The gospel message is a simple message – Jesus Christ who is the Son of God, came to earth and lived a sinless life, died on a cross for the sins of the whole world, conquering death by rising from the dead, enabling us to live a new life by the power of the Holy Spirit. We who come to faith in Christ accept this simple truth and some of us by the grace of God recognize that by doing so we enter into a life where miracles happen!

In recounting just a few of the miracles that happened in my life, it quickened me to ask myself, what happened? God is the same, He hasn’t moved – nor has He changed -the same miracles He performed for the children of Israel, the same miracles that caused my faith to grow as a young believer, He longs to do today. No, God hasn’t moved – I moved. Too often logic and disappointment blocked my ability to believe in miracles of conversion, my prayers were not as determined. I somehow accepted that man’s free will was stronger than this free gift of grace.

While on the surface, that may seem logical, but left to my own will, I would never have come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! It took someone, and in my case, more than someone to believe that the God of mercy, would come into my life. Yes, it took a miracle to change my heart and mind.

Paul asked the Galatian church some important questions:

2-4Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it? Did you go through this whole painful learning process for nothing? It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this up!

5-6Answer this question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? Don’t these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God. Galatians 3: 2-6 (MSG)

I’m determined to once again, believe beyond belief, that nothing is impossible with God and no one is outside of the grace of God – “is there anything (or anyone) too hard for God?”

Praying Again…For Those Who Said “No,”

I’m not a Message Bible fan, but I loved this interpretation of Galatians….well said. Always good to be reminded that “I” can’t make anything happen….although everyday i have to catch myself from falling into that rut. I’m so glad the Holy Spirit is constantly reminding me that it’s only through HIM we find victory. With God ALL things ARE possible. Thanks for the word today. God Bless you Maria!!!!
