They Just Might Hear You!

As I was reading my devotion this morning, I was struck with a passage which spoke to me of how important it is to open our mouths and speak what we believe. We are all familiar with the story of Joseph, and his conflict with his brothers who were offended because of him telling them of his dream. When given the opportunity, they decided to kill him, saying, “and then what will become of his dream?” It is amazing that even among people that walk together, one can receive insight into the ways of God, and others can be blind.

What got my attention however, was the word that Judah spoke to his brothers…

25 And they sat down to eat a meal. Then they lifted their eyes and looked, and there was a company of Ishmaelites, coming from Gilead with their camels, bearing spices, balm, and myrrh, on their way to carry them down to Egypt. 26 So Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is there if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? 27 Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother and our flesh.” And his brothers listenedGenesis 37:25-28

What if Judah had not spoken up? Not only would the dream have died, but so would they! For we who have the privilege of twenty-twenty know that it was because of Joseph that Judah and all of his brothers and their families were saved in the days of the famine.

Each of us have a word in our mouth, put there by God to speak in times of turmoil. Many times we feel as if what we say will not matter to the audience we are surrounded by. But how do we know, that what we say in season might be the very deliverance needed not only for that season, but for seasons to come?

God has promised us that:
:
Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it

Let’s be encouraged to know that God is faithful to back us up when we open our mouth for Him!

God Bless You,
Maria
