Never Too Late for the Promise!
One of the things that happens as we grow older is that a kind of settling in comes over us . In some ways that is a good thing, for we fail to be as “anxious for things” as we used to be. In other ways it can be deadly, for it can cause us to come to a false belief that our time is done – it’s too late to fulfill that dream that never manifested in our life. We have to be content with things such as they are.
If we read our Bible, we find that it is never too late for the promise. Remember Caleb…
10And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance. Joshua 14: 10-13 (KJV)
Caleb was 85 years old, and he not only walked in the strength of his youth, he walked in the determination of his youth; he believed that there was a “future and a hope” for him – he didn’t want that mountain to get it and die – he wanted that mountain to fulfill his dream!
How powerful dreams are – how very powerful they are when we hear the voice of God give us those dreams as a promise. Everyone has a dream born inside of them by God Himself; as we grow and mature in our faith as believers we understand there is a process to dreams – dreams have to die and be surrendered to the one who gave the dream! It may seem paradoxical, but God is faithful to resurrect every dead dream, if we keep believing.
What dream have you forsaken over the years? Could it be that God is stirring that dream alive in you again this year in this year of blessing?
Selah (Pause and think on this!)
