Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?

Waking up this morning, I couldn’t help but think about some things that I was grateful for. I began to thank God for the home that i have, it was not my dream home, but my home has become my dream. I may not have the Ethan Allen furniture, or the granite counters on my sink, but I have such peace when I walk through the doors that gives me both a refuge and a place of contentment. I have so learned how to thank God for the things that He provided for me, and not be discontent with the things that I thought I wanted!

On yesterday, Chosen Daughters of Destiny launched their new year. There was a chapel full of “chosen” daughters and their mothers. Our hearts leaped for joy over and over again as we heard the testimonies of lives that have been touched by this ministry. We saw the evidence of lives that were changed. The glory goes to God, the credit goes to the faithfulness of the young women who took a dream and gave it to God, and let Him manifest that dream!

It is in a spirit of gratitude that scriptures like this take on new meaning:

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)= KJV)

So many times we think we are doing God a favor when we sacrifice any part of ourselves to Him. How often we forget the facts. We were not the ones that loved God – it wa He that loved us! There is no sacrifice that we can make that can compare to the sacrifice God made by robing Himself in flesh, and living and dying a sinless life, for our sins! Sad to say many believers get so caught up in their working for God, they forget He has already done all the work!

All God wants is for His creation to worship Him, to love Him, to have fellowship with Him – He wants us to recognize that He has “given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness” – that we can rest in His unchanging grace and His unfailing mercy – and when we talk to Him, sometimes it’s a good thing just to tell Him how much we’re thankful that He loved us so much, that we have the privilege to love Him back!

God Bless You on this Lord’s Day!
Maria
