Don’t Give Up!

January 31, 2010

Today i was privileged to see one of my grandsons get baptized. He is ten years old. Now I have attended baptisms of my other grandchildren, and I pretty much had the same reaction as I did today – weeping with tears of joy at the witness of God’s handiwork. Today however, my heart was particularly touched as I remembered sitting in my kitchen in a former house – looking outside at a garage roof falling in – and then going around the house and seeing a barren wasteland on every side of the house. How my heart was heavy that day – I couldn’t see how even God could transform that situation! read more...

Don’t Stop Now!

January 31, 2010

Every now and then we need to take inventory of our lives. Part of the enemy’s plot to keep us from being successful is to tell us that our lives are ineffective and they don’t count for anything. We go day after day hoping to shake the world with our dreams, and nothing happens – we get discouraged, we begin to get faint-hearted – he has us right where he wants us! read more...

I’m Glad That’s Over!

January 29, 2010

Slept in late this morning, I am never more weary, and never more happy than when I have had a struggle with God and lose! It seems as though we mortals would learn that “our arms are too short to box with God!” And yet, the struggle continues, we face a new challenge and know what the end is going to be, yet there is something in our inner man that keeps the fight up – we can’t settle that thing – we can’t rest. read more...

What is it to You?

January 28, 2010

I’m going to make confession and shame the devil. More than once, I have gotten stuck watching the lives of other people. More than once I have questioned God as to how so and so was getting away with such and such. More than once this has led to offense. People that are analytical always try to figure out the “why.” Even when it comes to our spiritual walk, even when we say we are going to live by faith, and keep our eyes on Jesus, we still look for patterns. We look for formulas. We look for examples! read more...

If God be God!

January 27, 2010

News reports don’t give us much comfort that the economic climate in this country is getting any better. There are still twelve out of very one hundred people out of work, and forecasts indicate that more major businesses are going to cut back or even close their doors. If you find yourself in the position of being out of work, listening to the news doesn’t provide much hope. read more...

Is Your Soul for Sale?

January 26, 2010

We are all familiar with the passage of scripture in Matthew 16:25 -

“For what to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

Though None Go With Me!

January 23, 2010

As much as I have come to realize that the walk of a believer is a journey not meant to be traveled alone – God not only values relationships – He abides most in relationships! However, there are those times when God will see if we are able to follow Him, even though – none go with us! read more...

God is Yet Calling Dreamers!

January 22, 2010

As we have sought the Lord for direction for this year, He has encouraged our heart to know that great things are in store for those who will believe. HeartLife Ministries is praying a Jabez prayer to expand our borders and that will mean digging deeper into the Word of God and sharing it with the whosoever will come! read more...

Don’t Shoot the Messenger!

January 21, 2010

Yesteray we wrote about speaking up, particularly when it may not be a popular thing. Recent events in the news have quickened my heart to listen – to what God is saying in this very critical hour. Later in the day I was reading a response to something that a televison evangelist had said concernig a critical situation facing our world. The negative responses that this evangelist ha received have revealed once again why we are suffering such a malaise in the church. When someone speaks out and even reports truth – the major critics are those in the church! The writer of the respone took a different slant – stating that this same television evangelist was one of the major suporters of the region in question. I couldn’t help but wonder if his critics could say the same. read more...

They Just Might Hear You!

January 20, 2010

As I was reading my devotion this morning, I was struck with a passage which spoke to me of how important it is to open our mouths and speak what we believe. We are all familiar with the story of Joseph, and his conflict with his brothers who were offended because of him telling them of his dream. When given the opportunity, they decided to kill him, saying, “and then what will become of his dream?” It is amazing that even among people that walk together, one can receive insight into the ways of God, and others can be blind. read more...
