The Breath of Life!

The marvelous thing about God’s Word is that it is not merely words, it is a weapon in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. This knowledge is not given to everyone – it is uncovered by those who are willing to seek that information out. I can remember as if it was yesterday the day God answered me after I asked Him what my gift was. It was at a Prayer Band Convention – I wanted so desperately to know where I fit in the body of Christ, what special job He had assigned to me. This was the scripture that He gave me, of course we didn’t read The Message Bible then, it was the good old King James, but as i read it in Ezekiel 37: The Message, it took on new life:

1-2 God grabbed me. God’s Spirit took me up and set me down in the middle of an open plain strewn with bones. He led me around and among them—a lot of bones! There were bones all over the plain—dry bones, bleached by the sun.

3 He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I said, “Master God, only you know that.”

4 He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones: ‘Dry bones, listen to the Message of God!’”

5-6 God, the Master, told the dry bones, “Watch this: I’m bringing the breath of life to you and you’ll come to life. I’ll attach sinews to you, put meat on your bones, cover you with skin, and breathe life into you. You’ll come alive and you’ll realize that I am God!”

For years, even before I was a believer, I had been able to see the dry, passionless life most people lived. What an assignment – to be able to see new life come into people who appeared to be the walking dead!
And when I began to see this come true – how my faith began to grow! For indeed I saw this actually happening:

7-8 I prophesied just as I’d been commanded. As I prophesied, there was a sound and, oh, rustling! The bones moved and came together, bone to bone. I kept watching. Sinews formed, then muscles on the bones, then skin stretched over them. But they had no breath in them.

9 He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath. Prophesy, son of man. Tell the breath, ‘God, the Master, says, Come from the four winds. Come, breath. Breathe on these slain bodies. Breathe life!’”

10 So I prophesied, just as he commanded me. The breath entered them and they came alive! They stood up on their feet, a huge army. Ezekiel 37: 7-10 (MSG)

One thing I discovered is that this special work was not just for me, it was a commision given by our Lord Himself…

15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.Mark 16:15-16 (KJV)

And the best part of it is, when we do it – WE LIVE!

Kairos,
Maria
