The Power of One!
There are laws that transcend even the perfect laws found in mathematics. That two could become one is a mystery – and even more so when we find that the “one” has more power than the “two.” And yet this is what we find in God’s word when He describes the tangible power that comes when two separate bodies become one:
4-6He answered, “Haven’t you read in your Bible that the Creator originally made man and woman for each other, male and female? And because of this, a man leaves father and mother and is firmly bonded to his wife, becoming one flesh—no longer two bodies but one. Because God created this organic union of the two sexes, no one should desecrate his art by cutting them apart.” Mt. 19:4-6 (MSG)
I am currently teaching my Philosophy of Education class and as always when I give my students the questions that have plagued man since the beginning of time that have yet to be answered, I am met with awe at the simplicity of the questions, yet the difficulty of the answers. “Where did we come from? What is real? What is truth? What is beauty? Is there a God? How many of us stop to think of these things, and fail to know that how we answer them reveals our worldview – the lens through which we see the world and frame all that is in it. Likewise, how we accept by faith the truth of God’s word determines the revelation we will receive into the mysteries of life. Consider this phrase from the book of Proverbs:
18 There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
19 how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.Proverbs 30:18-19 (NLT)
I have been reading a wonderful book entitled Strong Women, Soft Hearts by Paula Rhinehart. It has put some wonderful things on my mind regarding relationships. It has opened my eyes to many things that I have struggled with for years, basically because the tradition I got saved in did not have insight into just how much value Jesus put on relationships, particularly how much God invests in the marriage relationship! Past teachings and experiences aside, it’s a new day, filled with revelation of how much God loves us, and how much He desires for us to love one another. May I encourage each and every one of you in our cyber world to drink of the mysteries of God’s richest inheritance – love – it’s not just a truism that we learn in catechism – God is love and everyone that loves is born of God and knoweth God, He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for…God is love!
God Bless You As I Send All the Love I Have Your Way,
(Much thanks to all who wrote or thought of my family in our time of loss)
Maria
