We’re The Parents Now!

October 14, 2009

My Father made his transition on yesterday into eternity. As the scripture says about Job:
Then he died, an old man who had lived a long, full life. Job 42:17 (NLT)
My Dad was ninety years old, he saw his children’s children. While at work, not knowing that he was leaving, I was filled with such love for my Father, I thought of how much he had tried to be a good Father to me and my siblings – I couldn’t wait to get off work to tell him – when I got off – he had already made his transition. It’s so important to tell our family that we love them, often and much! Later, when talking to one of my sisters, she made the statement, “we’re the parents now!” Our Mother has gone on, our Father has gone on – it is now on us, to be the family – and I decree a strong and healthy family! read more...

More Than Fellowship – Intimacy!

October 13, 2009

As we look at biblical passages that relate to the companion that God created for man – we see that God had more in mind than companionship. Many people, even today, find companionship with their pets – we even hear the phrase “man’s best friend” in reference to the kind of relationship that man has with dogs. God envisioned Adam in need of much more than a pet – he already had a garden full of pets. God saw man in need of someone (as we said yesterday) who was: “…meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him.” This helper would provide much more for Adam than companionship, she would be bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh – she would be Hu-man like him – yet so different she would be a complement to him. read more...

Habitual Fellowship or Fellowship on Purpose!

October 12, 2009

God has given me revelation in recent weeks on a topic that I feel is so important, that we are going to take a look at it all this week. As you can judge from the topic it has to do with fellowship, but more than just casual fellowship, we want to take a look at relationships as God intended. By looking at the very first book of the Bible we can see that from the very beginning, God was thinking about man and his need to have relationship: read more...

Now unto Him…

October 11, 2009

A common benediction in our church services is from a one chapter book, the book of Jude:
24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

What Do You Bring to the Table?

October 10, 2009

Most of us like to make a good deal. We will tell the story over and over of how we were able to get something for half off, or it was the last one so they gave it to us for seventy per cent off – etc. We will testify of favor – favor on the job, with our landlord, favor with the mortgage company. We relish the “advantages” that come our way so much that it has been my observation that God understands this trait we have and when we first come to Him as a believer it seems as if He showers down upon us many advantages that appeal to this part of our nature. Not only does the sky look brighter and my hands do too, but we seem to have open doors all around us and unexpected treasures seem to abound – (now somebody out there knows what I mean and can say “Amen!”) read more...

Change is Inevitable, But Growth?

October 9, 2009

I heard a message the other day where the preacher began with the statement, “Change is inevitable, but growth is intentional.” I had to write it down – it is one of those “truths’ packaged so concisely that I know I needed to put it in my memory bank. If there is one thing you can count on, things will not stay the same. But change does not predicate growth except in babies. read more...

To Your Health…Life on New Terms by Pastor Shanna Neal

October 8, 2009

I was able to read something that Pastor Shanna Neal posted on her Facebook today and I couldn’t help but borrow her title for today’s post. This is exactly what I have been trying to convey this week, after working this message around and around in my head for weeks. If we are going to live life to its’ fullest; if we are going to have good health; we are going to have to live our lives on “new terms!” read more...

When You're Not in a Healthy Place – Part II

October 7, 2009

Today’s topic is not one that most Christians like to deal with, and yet much of our ineffectiveness as Christians is because we are not dealing with heart issues. One of the major reasons that we began this website was to deal with the kind of heart issues that over my forty years as a Christian I have heard, experienced, and seen in the body of Christ. We all know that the world is living in a place where fear and doubt and anxiety are running rampant – but what we often don’t want to address is that those subtle yet powerful forces also bring defeat and despair to many Christians. read more...

When You're Not in a Healthy Place

October 6, 2009

Most of us know our bodies well enough to know when something is wrong. They may be small things at first that get our attention, but all of a sudden we begin to notice more and more that something that was “right” before, is “not right” now. So we may say to ourselves, I need to go to the doctor to check things out, sometimes we even begin to ask our family and friends casually, “have you ever felt like…?” We are in tune to our bodies and most of us don’t want to wait too long before we find out if something is wrong. read more...

I'm A Survivor!

October 5, 2009

I heard a wonderful message today from one of my all-time favorite preachers. Apostle Richard D. Henton. The title to his message was, “I’m a Survivor, Not a Casualty!” Not only did I love the message, I identified with it as well. As I looked at my Dad, who has been in that place between life and life slipping away – I couldn’t help but think of how he would classify as a survivor! He has beat the odds on death several times in the last few months; just when it looked as if he was going down for the last time, he recovered from that weak place and resumed strength. My grandmother, his mother was the same way. Quite frankly I hope those genes and characteristics still run through me. read more...
