Habitual Fellowship or Fellowship on Purpose!

God has given me revelation in recent weeks on a topic that I feel is so important, that we are going to take a look at it all this week. As you can judge from the topic it has to do with fellowship, but more than just casual fellowship, we want to take a look at relationships as God intended. By looking at the very first book of the Bible we can see that from the very beginning, God was thinking about man and his need to have relationship:

20And Adam gave names to all the livestock and to the birds of the air and to every [wild] beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him. Genesis 2:20

Adam had plenty of work to do, to tend the garden that God gave him and with all the responsibility of caring for all the creation attached to it. It was not out of boredom that God looked for a suitable mate for Adam – it was not because his days were not full – No! God knew that there was something in Adam that went beyond a full and busy day, it was the need for companionship, for relationship, for communion with someone who was like him!

God identified this need before man was even created, because it was a feeling that God had Himself! For though it is not recorded as such in Genesis, we know that it was out of a need for fellowship with someone who had a desire, not a mandate to engage in that fellowship that man was created. God had all of creation to commune with, but all creation, including the angels, were not able to give God the full and complete relationship that God desired. We see that man indeed was able to do this for God when we read:

9This is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked [in habitual fellowship] with God. Genesis 6:9 (AMP)

Noah was a man who walked in “habitual fellowship” with God. It wasn’t a casual, or an every now and then kind of thing, No – Moses made a habit of having fellowship with God – God’s fellowship was an important part of his life. And it was this kind of relationship that made God’s heart glad and gave Noah such favor, that when God decided to destroy the whole world, that He spared Noah and his family.

Before God created businesses, before God created government, before God even created the church to worship Him, God created family. In fact God’s first directive to man (and woman) was to be “fruitful and multiply and subdue the land.” God not only wanted one family for one time – He wanted family to increase for all times!

Somehow we have diminished the importance of family and community to the extent that we don’t see it as being important. How often do we tell people they have to be, “happy with Jesus alone (more on that tomorrow).” One day will not suffice either uncovering God’s plan for man, or dispelling myths related to relationships – see HeartLife tomorrow for more…

God Bless You,
Maria

This was similar to the word that God gave me for our church yesterday. When trying to balance, life & even “holy” burdens of ministry all and that is good we need to remember the simplicity of what God intended for us, before the fall, before sin, before all the “drama”, God just wanted fellowship. He walked with Adam, in the cool of the day, in the evening, He walked with him. We just need to walk with Him sometimes and remember the sweet fellowship it brings vs. the demands of the day. He will even walk with us throughout the demands if we let Him.
