Hot Chocolate and Other Comforting Things!
The seasons are changing – it’s getting a little nippy at night. How wonderful to come in after a jam packed twelve hour plus day and put on the pj’s and get a cup of hot chocolate. It does more than take the chill off – it soothes the soul!
If you were to come to my house, you would find that I have too many desks – I keep trying to find a suitable place to do all the projects that I have – (so far to no avail). There is one desk that I go to every morning and read my devotions and e-mail – that is the desk in the family room where I can feel the rays of the sun coming in – it’s my favorite way to begin the day. This morning I thought of one of my favorite verses of scripture -“From the rising of the sun, until the going down of the same, the name of the Lord is to be praised!”
Turning to it in the book of Psalms (for it is referenced in other books), I saw tucked within the 113th division of Psalms were other promises – good promises – comforting promises:
11PRAISE THE Lord! (Hallelujah!) Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!
2Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forever
3From the rising of the sun to the going down of it and from east to west, the name of the Lord is to be praised!
4The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens!
5Who is like the Lord our God, Who has His seat on high,
6Who humbles Himself to regard the heavens and the earth!
7[The Lord] raises the poor out of the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap and the dung hill,
8That He may seat them with princes, even with the princes of His people.
9He makes the barren woman to be a homemaker and a joyful mother of [spiritual] children. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)(AMP)
I couldn’t help but praise God again, for thinking of how the mighty God, the everlasting God, the God of the whole earth, “humbles himself to regard [both] the heavens and the earth” – and when He surveys the earth He stops to raise the poor out of the dust and the needy out of the garbage! That was me! And He doesn’t stop there because he causes those same poor and lost people to sit with princes, even the princes of His people – that has been ME! God has taken me places that I never could have dreamed and caused me to walk among those I would never have felt worthy!
He took the barren woman and gave her a family, that too was me – for God has built a family both natural and spiritual from my dream of family!
Just like the sun in the morning, and the hot chocolate at night – God’s word is a comfort to my soul! Praise be the Lord!
God Bless You,
Maria
