A Promise and an Oath!
I am currently reading a book that is helping me frame a lot of things in my mind. In one of the chapters it talks about desire – and when I looked up the word desire in the Bible – so many references came up. Desire is talked about alot and refers to different things. We all have desires, and many of us because of our religious training choose to ignore our desires, feeling that all desire is a bad thing and should be crucified with the rest of our flesh.
Looking at a familiar passage of scripture we see something about what God does with things that we desire:
“16Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. 17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. 18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. 20 Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.Hebrews 10:16-20 (NLT)
The secret of course is that God is not a genie waiting to have someone rub the magic lampl for Him to spring out to perform on command. God wants our desires to flow from His heart – and when they do – we “can have great confidence that what we desire (and hope for) is secure with God, as secure as a ship’s anchor!
God’s desire is that we have desire – that we ask – that we seek – that we knock – and then after doing all that – that we press unto the mark of the high calling that is in Christ Jesus. Living a life that never steps out of the boat unto the water can be a pretty drab existence. How God longs for His children to seek His face – and uncover not only the mysteries of the kingdom, but also the intricate road He has prepared for our life to bring us from wretch undone to one who takes God at His Word and acts on it.
This week we are going to look at some men and women who took God at His Word and see what happened!
God Bless You,
Maria

Yes I truly believe this. I remember reading a book that said that the Universe is nothing but a giant genie and when you ask for your wishes they will be granted. Well the “Universe” is another word that they use to replace God. I get irritated when people believe that the Universe is answering prayers and producing blessings for them. When I desire from my heart and open my heart to receive his blessings there is overflow and things, good things, come to me. I have confidence that God will take care of me. He is my only provider the one who does it all. Some people believe that they control their own destiny. No way, you have no control. I know, I have tried and tried to control my destiny and be the pilot of the plane or the captain of the ship. Every time I try to take possession,he puts me in my place. I have to learn to take a seat and allow God to produce the miracles in my life. I am learning and so far so good.
