He’ll Do It Again!
We all know the feeling – we wait and wait – for that day to come – Graduation day – our wedding – the birth of a child – that promotion! Those are the joyous days that we rejoice when that day finally arrives. Then there are those other days – the loss of a loved one to disease – that child leaves home for college – the termination of a job (for whatever reason); these are not joyous days – tho we might have anticipated their arrival, we mourn nonetheless when that day finally comes!
When Daniel realized he had solved the mystery of the king’s dream in Daniel 2: he made this proclamation of praise in verses 20 -23:
Blessed be the name of God,
forever and ever.
He knows all, does all:
He changes the seasons and guides history,
He raises up kings and also brings them down,
he provides both intelligence and discernment,
He opens up the depths, tells secrets,
sees in the darkâlight spills out of him!
God of all my ancestors, all thanks! all praise!
You made me wise and strong.
And now you’ve shown us what we asked for.
You’ve solved the king’s mystery.” (MSG)
Daniel recognized the power of God and it was this recognition that enabled him to survive in a strange land! It was this faith in the ability of God to protect and keep him that he refused to eat the food of the king’s court – and the same faith that enabled him to pray three times a day in spite of the king’s decree. So many of us give ascent with our lips that God knows all and can do all, but too often we faint when circumstances are not positive.
God really does know all, see all, and is able to solve all mysteries. He’s never caught off guard – never surprised -what I have learned is that because things do catch me by surprise that I have to remind myself of God’s sovereignty.
There is a song one of my daughters used to sing for me, “He’ll Do It Again!” The lyrics are:
Lyrics:
VERSE 1
You may be down and feel like God
Has somehow forgotten
That you are faced with circumstances
You can’t get through
But now it seems that there’s no way out
And you’re going under
God’s proven time and time again
He’ll take care of you
VERSE 2
God knows the things you’re going through
And He knows how you’re hurting
You see he knows just how your heart
Has been broken in two
But He’s the God of the stars, of the sun and the sea
And He is your Father
You see He can calm the storm
And He’ll find some way to fix it for you…
BRIDGE
Oh He’s still God and He will not fail you
Oh He’s still God and He will not change
Know, Know that He’s God and He’s fighting for you
Yes, just like Moses, just like Daniel,
And just like Shadrach and Meshach, Abednego…
You may not know how
You may not know when
But I know that He’ll do it again…
Whatever you are going through today – BE ENCOURAGED – the same way He brought you out last time – HE’LL DO IT AGAIN!
God Bless You,
Maria
