Trust, Delight, Commit!

There are so many things to do in a day, that it is almost essential to keep a “To-Do List! I have found that one of the best ways to sort through my thoughts and bring my petition to the Lord, is to also make a list. A list of prayer petitions, a list of heart’s desires, a list of hopes and dreams. In Psalm 37 we find a simple plan that helps us to sort through our scattered thoughts and emotions and bring them before the Lord:

” Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Psalm 37:1-6 (NIV)

Once again we see the evidence that our Father God knows us so well – He begins this Psalm by telling us not to worry about the wicked – how often do we spend countless chunks of time worrying about “who shoulda, woulda, coulda? God wants us – all of us – focused on our vertical relationship with Him – and only Him.

If we can follow this simple formula, to “trust in the Lord with all of our heart,” and never depend upon our own understanding – then we leave the “how-to’s up to God. When we “delight ourselves in Him” soon we find that we’re not even focused on anything but doing His will – and this changes our perspective and our actions. Our desires become His desires and it becomes easy for Him to move in our lives. And just in case we’ve got some reserve left as to what we need, a third admonition settles it – to commit our life, our total life, every aspect of our life to God will cause us to both trust and delight and joyfully allow the righteousness of God to take preimmence in our life!

As we pour our hearts to God by journaling and then under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit make our lists we join with Him in the miracle of bringing it to pass.

God Bless You,
Maria

    Awesome word for today, and my favorite scripture presented in a new light.
    Thanks so much for allowing the Lord to use you.
