Fight the Good Fight of Faith!

“But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NLT)

Paul instructed Timonthy to “fight the good fight for the true faith.” That tells me two things right away:
#1 – That if we have to fight for the true faith – we probably don’t have to fight as hard for a faith that is not true;
#2 – That there is going to be a fight – and if we keep reading we see that part of that fight will be to “hold tightly to the eternal life that God has promised”;
and, even
# 3 – that in fighting he had to run away from evil things and
# 4- “pursue ighteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness”.

What the four spiritual laws don’t tell us when we make our confession of salvation is that there is going to be a FIGHT! And it is a FIGHT that we will have to fight even until the end of our lives.

I’m not one to see a devil in every corner, or under every bushel – and give him that much attention. The reality is however, that there is a devil, and though he has no real power – (Jesus promised in Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – and I take His word over any other) – that devil can cause us great inconvenience and more than a tad bit of stress! In order to diminish the time we spend dealing with the devil – we have to increase the time we spend “fighting the good fight of faith”, etc.,(# 1 -4 above).

We are in a time when seasons are changing. God is moving supernaturally by His Spirit, but we have to see clearly to be able to identify His move. The biggest trick the enemy of our soul has is to keep us distracted – so we are spending an inordinate amount of time putting out fires – and never able to see that before us is a burning bush that will light our pathway to victory!

I am speaking as one who has fallen prey to these deceptive distractions more than I want to admit, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I believe and decree that we are on the brink of a great harvest of opportunity where the Spirit of God will reign supreme and souls will come in from the north, the south, the east and the west – that doors of opportunity for the gospel to be preached, even in places which now seem to be closed – and the gifts and calling that God has perfected in you will be made manifest!

The spirit of the living God wants us to fight – not fin a fighting match with the devil, He will take care of him; but to “fight the good fight for the true faith “(Jesus answered, Have faith in God, Mark 11:22″
