Commentary on Remarkable Women by Neesha Stringfellow
May 10, 2009
“In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin’s name, Mary. Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:
Good morning!
You’re beautiful with God’s beauty,
Beautiful inside and out!
God be with you.
She was thoroughly shaken, wondering what was behind a greeting like that. But the angel assured her, “Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.
He will be great,
be called ‘Son of the Highest.’
The Lord God will give him
the throne of his father David;
He will rule Jacob’s house forever—
no end, ever, to his kingdom.
Mary said to the angel, “But how? I’ve never slept with a man.”
The angel answered,
The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
the power of the Highest hover over you;
Therefore, the child you bring to birth
will be called Holy, Son of God.
“And did you know that your cousin Elizabeth conceived a son, old as she is? Everyone called her barren, and here she is six months pregnant! Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.”
And Mary said,
Yes, I see it all now:
I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve.
Let it be with me
just as you say.
Then the angel left her. Luke 1:26-38 (MSG) read more...

God’s ways are past finding out! Just when you think you have figured out how He moves and what are the ways He deals with man, He throws a curve ball of mercy that brings a home run of truth into our lives! Such is the story that begins in Joshua the second chapter – the Israelite spies came to spy out the land beyond the Jordan which they were about to cross over into and found that indeed faith had come to this pagan land: read more...

“One of the Pharisees asked him over for a meal. He went to the Pharisee’s house and sat down at the dinner table. Just then a woman of the village, the town harlot, having learned that Jesus was a guest in the home of the Pharisee, came with a bottle of very expensive perfume and stood at his feet, weeping, raining tears on his feet. Letting down her hair, she dried his feet, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man was the prophet I thought he was, he would have known what kind of woman this is who is falling all over him.” Luke 7:36-39 (MSG) read more...

We all know about them – the faithful usher that greets us every Sunday with a smile; the one we past by as she goes to the kitchen to tirelessly prepare food for the homeless shelter; the receptionist who directs our calls when we call the church; the nameless volunteer who works every week in children’s church. Yes we all know about the faithful women who serve quietly in the background – they aren’t leaders, in fact do’t want to be – they continue to be faithful even when no one thanks them. They labor our of love – not recognition – and though we know of them, we seldom acknowledge what they do by thanking them. read more...
Remarkable Women!
May 3, 2009
Throughout the ages, history has recorded women who did remarkable things because of their faith in their God! We know that there is no other woman and Mother who made a greater sacrifice than the mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who knew even when she carried her baby that He was born to be the Savior of the world! There are many other women who did great and noble acts, but one woman who comes to mind immediately that made a tremendous sacrifice is Hannah, one of the wives of a Levite named Elkanah. This woman had suffered much humiliation at the hand of Elkanah’s other wife, Penninah, who was able to bear children, whearas Hannah could not. On one of the family’s yearly visits to Shiloh to celebrate the Feast of Passover. Hannah went to the sanctuary and prayed earnestly to the Lord for a child, and not only did she pray she made a vow: read more...
Housekeeping Rules #5 – Obey and I Will…
May 2, 2009
Deuteronomy 28 is a plumbline scripture – for in it a plan is issued by God to man of what He will do if we obey and keep His commands. There are twelve verses that tell of the blessings that will follow obedience; there are nearly fifty that in detail explain what will happen when there is disobedience to God’s commands. We won’t list the curses, but just look at the blessings: read more...
Housekeeping Rules – #4 – Teach Your Children
May 1, 2009
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates .” Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NLT) read more...
