Half-past DayBreak!

May 31, 2009

That night the answer to the mystery was given to Daniel in a vision. Daniel blessed the God of heaven, saying,
“Blessed be the name of God,
forever and ever.
He knows all, does all:
He changes the seasons and guides history,
He raises up kings and also brings them down,
he provides both intelligence and discernment,
He opens up the depths, tells secrets,
sees in the dark—light spills out of him!
God of all my ancestors, all thanks! all praise!
You made me wise and strong.
And now you’ve shown us what we asked for.
You’ve solved the king’s mystery.”

Thank you for Prayer!

May 30, 2009

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is steadfast and confident! I will sing and make melody.”Psalm 57:7
Confession is good for the soul and having the opportunity to share it with friends that care is even better when they pray for you when facing a transgression. Today was one of those days that it seemed like more attacks came, from unexpected places. It was tough because I was not cooperating. My rigihteous indignation was rising – I was feelling like I needed to drive out some moneychangers! read more...

Like a Flood!

May 29, 2009

As I looked at different versions of Isaiah 59:18-20, it was hard to pick out one that spoke exactly to the way this scripture was preached one time in my hearing that really got my attention. As I looked at the NIV, the 19th verse says: read more...

Our Daughters Need to Know That They Are Chosen!

May 28, 2009

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. 2 Peter 1: 9 & 10 (MSG) read more...

Lest We Forget!

May 27, 2009

On Monday we celebrated Memorial Day, which has become less of a day to remember the soldiers who have given their lives for the freedom of this country, and more of a day that signals the beginning of summer festivities. Particularly in a time such as we are living in now, when our troops are spread across the globe in conflicts that did not originate from the United States of America – it is very important that we remember that whatever we believe as to whether they should or should not be there, they are there – and they deserve our support and our respect and most of all our prayers! read more...

Worship and the Word

May 26, 2009

I have not been able to shake the importance of worship being in partnership with the Word of God. One without the other is not complete. To get to know God we must read or hear the Word of God – if we begin to know God, we can’t help but worship Him. It is a
by-product of our praise. read more...

It's Bubbling in My Soul!

May 24, 2009

There’s a song we used to sing in church called, “It’s Bubbling!” and though I can’t bring in the melody, the words go like this:
It’s bubbling, It’s Bubbling, It’s Bubbling in My Soul
I’m Singing, I’m Dancing, Since Jesus Made Me Whole
Folks don’t understand it, I cannot keep it quiet,
It’s Bubbling, Bubbling, Bubbling, Bubbling, Bubbling in My Soul! read more...

Let the Redeemed of the Lord, SAY SO!

May 23, 2009

Yesterday I had a problem on my job with a difficult teacher. She made me want to go there (if you know what I mean). The situation is too lengthy to describe, it has been going on for about six months – she is the thorn in my flesh – the instrument used to show me that I still have some buttons that can be pushed. read more...

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall!

May 22, 2009

The past couple of Chicago days have been glorious. As I drove to work the summer sun said to me, stay outside a little while longer, don’t go into a building where you are trading artificial light for me. The gentle breeze was so refreshng as it danced upon my skin – it is days like this that make you say, “yes, Chicago is alright after all!” And it helps you forget the bitter, cold winds that whipped through your very soul just a few months ago. read more...

Tomorrow About This Time: Will You Be There?

May 21, 2009

Today our thoughts go to a familiar story about a time in Israel when things were so bad that women were cooking and eating their children (no matter what the news commentators say – we’re not there). the king of Israel was in such distress when he heard of this, that he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and vowed to take off the head of Elisha. read more...
