Many thanks go to Pastor Troy O’Quinn and his lovely wife Camille for opening the doors of the River Oaks Community Church on Friday, March 20, 2009 to allow the Holy Spirit to change the Atmosphere of South Holland and the surrounding region and bring forth an Atmosphere of Heaven! The ministry of worship, the ministry of the Holy Spirit through revelation, prophecy, and instruction. The only word that can be used to describe it is “glorious!” read more...

A GIANT – PACKED WEEK-END!

March 20, 2009

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Romans 12: 6-10 (NLT) read more...

A Simple Maid, A Powerful Message!

March 19, 2009

If you’ve been following the readings, you can probably tell by now that I admire people of courage and conviction. I particularly marvel at the stength that some display who may appear to be insignificant. Such is the case of a little maid in the book of 2 Kings the fifth chapter: read more...

Facing the Giants – Part III

March 18, 2009

“Deborah was a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth. She was judge over Israel at that time. She held court under Deborah’s Palm between Ramah and Bethel in the hills of Ephraim. The People of Israel went to her in matters of justice.
She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, “It has become clear that God, the God of Israel, commands you: Go to Mount Tabor and prepare for battle…And I’ll make sure you win the battle.”
Barak said, “If you go with me, I’ll go. But if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
She said, “Of course I’ll go with you. But understand that with an attitude like that, there’ll be no glory in it for you. God will use a woman’s hand to take care of Sisera.” Judges 4:4-11 (MSG) read more...

Facing the Giants – Part II

March 17, 2009

One of my heroes of the faith is Nehemiah – a humble man, a praying man, but also a very smart man. Nehemiah believed God would hear and answer his prayers and scripture records that as he sought to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem that he sought God, and went fearlessly forward. Even though he was in captivity,he lived a good life as the king’s cupbearer, but having heard of the trouble his people were having, Nehemiah got permission from the king to rebuild the walls surrounding Jerusalem. read more...

Facing Your Giants – Part I

March 16, 2009

One of my favorite movies is “Facing the Giants.” This low budget movie produced by a church, is a story of faith that will inspire, encourage, and motivate you to believe God all the more. This same church put out “Fireproof,” another great fiilm that portrays Christian values on the big screen. read more...

And Again I Say…

March 15, 2009

The first time I was asked to speak in the Church at a women’s program – I was a teacher and could prepare a history lesson, but I had for sure never prepared a Bible lesson! The wise women I spoke to about this said to me that I would hear God give me a “word” to speak and I would know what to say -it would come from my heart.
I prayed and I prayed – nothing seemed to come – but one day as I was washing dishes, I heard these words in my spirit: read more...

Nevertheless…Favor!

March 14, 2009

Every day on this website I get a comment from a robot. I did not know what it was until I mentioned it to the webmaster and he told me. None of the words make sense – they are all jumbled up into very long and strange set of words that take up a lot of space and I have to delete them every day. read more...

To Continue in God’s Favor – Measure Yourself!

March 13, 2009

It is human nature to observe others and measure them. We decide if they look right, if they are acting right, and if we are going to like them. Now the measuring rod gets smaller if we hold them in a level of esteem – if they are famous, or a celebrity, or maybe they have achieved something that we admire. But the measuring rod gets longer for those who come into our disfavor, for whatever reason. It is particularly interesting that we often judge those the harshest who have characteristics similar to ours! read more...

The Favor I Found to be True!

March 12, 2009

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who
mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the Lord has planted for his own glory. Isaiah 61(NLT) read more...
