In Honor Preferring One Another

March 31, 2009

“Love one another with brotherly affection (as members of one family), giving precedence and showing honor to one another.” Romans 10:10(AMP)
Our contemporary society has one element that is becoming all too common – and that is the “common” way we treat each other. A prevailing spirit roaming about our country particularly is a spirit of entitlement, where people feel that it is their birthright to have and maintain a certain lifestyle granting them privileges that they feel they deserve even to the extent of taking advantage of other people. read more...

There is nothing better than fresh, hot bread and butter. Even before you taste it, the smell of it arouses your senses and you have anticipation that makes even a gloomy day full of sunshine. Well I had some fresh bread this morning, and even though many of you may not be able to identify – I’m still going to share it with you, because as I tell my children, if you;re privileged to live long enough – you’ll understand what I’m talking about. read more...

There are many institutions crumbling today – but if there is one that should be first of on our list to pray for – it is the institution of marriage, for from this institution flow all other institutions. God’s plan for a man to marry a woman for a lifetime, was the way for societies and their institutions to be stable and to prosper. read more...

We Have the Mind of Christ – Part II

March 28, 2009

What does a spirit-filled Christian do about judgement, when it appears there are conflicting directives? The answer to this dilemma is written within the text – We Have the Mind of Christ. When we have the mind of Christ – we don’t hae to worry about judgement, we don’t have to worry about being judged. When we begin to grow and mature, we begin to understand what this seeming paradox means. read more...

We Have the Mind of Christ

March 27, 2009

“For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? but we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2: 19 (KJV)
I started off this week’s lessons by talking about judgement. Having a judgmental spirit can be devastating for many reasons. First of all it can handicap the growth and sometimes even the presence of newborn babes in your midst – people have a hard time developing properly when they feel they are under scrutiny. read more...

When You Can't Be Who Are – Part II

March 26, 2009

An average of Gallup polls taken between May 2005 and 2007 indicate that only 31% of Christians believe the Bible to be the actual word of God. Although 47% believe it to be the inspired Word – they don’t believe that everything in it is true; a startling 19% believe that it is a book of ancient fables. If you look closer at these statistics and examine the educational levels of those who responded, you will find that 32% of Christians who have some college believe the Bible to be the actual word of God, while 20% of college grads believe, and only a startling 11% of post grads believe it to be actual. read more...

When You Can't Be Who You Are – Part I

March 25, 2009

It is within my nature to be judgmental. The environment that I was raised in had an influence of women who were judgmental; the era that I grew up – in the sixties – was a time of criticizing the way things were, pushing toward the “civil rights” of African Americans and other disenfrancised groups; the profession that I entered into – a History teacher has a hidden component of looking critically at the past and present to make certain judgements. So I unapologetically say that I have struggled with a judgmental spirit most of my life. And the reason I can say unapologetically is because when you understand the root you cease to condemn yourself – and you begin to work with the Holy Spirit to understand what part of that spirit needs to go, and what part needs to stay! read more...

No Longer a Mystery!

March 24, 2009

“…of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”Colossians 1:25-29 (NKJV) read more...
