Let Patience Have Her Perfect Work – Part II

February 18, 2009

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:2-4 (MSG)
Old school Christians used to say, never pray for patience, for when you do, you are praying for trials - read more...

Let Patience Have Her Perfect Work

February 17, 2009

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4 KJV
The above scripture is one that came to me often in the early days of my conversion (of course everything I grew up on came from the KJV of the Bible). Maybe if I had another version it would have become clearer to me earlier, I don’t know, but one thing I know that term “patience” was one that made me lose “patience.” read more...

Today, one of G.I.F.T.S. own daughters, Van Shepherd shares a personal story of victory!

Can You Hear the Sound of Heaven?

February 14, 2009

Think, friends: If I come to you and all I do is pray privately to God in a way only he can understand, what are you going to get out of that? If I don’t address you plainly with some insight or truth or proclamation or teaching, what help am I to you? If musical instruments—flutes, say, or harps—aren’t played so that each note is distinct and in tune, how will anyone be able to catch the melody and enjoy the music? If the trumpet call can’t be distinguished, will anyone show up for the battle? 1Cor 7:6-8 read more...

Love in the Only Name that Lives On…

February 12, 2009

He said, “GOD bless you, my dear daughter! What a splendid expression of love! And when you could have had your pick of any of the young men around. And now, my dear daughter, don’t you worry about a thing; I’ll do all you could want or ask. Everybody in town knows what a courageous woman you are— a real prize! You’re right, I am a close relative to you, but there is one even closer than I am. So stay the rest of the night. In the morning, if he wants to exercise his customary rights and responsibilities as the closest covenant redeemer, he’ll have his chance; but if he isn’t interested, as GOD lives, I’ll do it. Now go back to sleep until morning.” Ruth 3: 10-13 (MSG) read more...
