The Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 8
6Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you mightily, and you will show yourself to be a prophet with them; and you will be turned into another man. 1 Samuel 10:6 AMP
5-6 “Next, you’ll come to Gibeah of God, where there’s a Philistine garrison. As you approach the town, you’ll run into a bunch of prophets coming down from the shrine, playing harps and tambourines, flutes and drums. And they’ll be prophesying. Before you know it, the Spirit of GOD will come on you and you’ll be prophesying right along with them. And you’ll be transformed. You’ll be a new person! MSG
One of the greatest gifts God has given unto man is exemplified in this season. It is the gift of God coming down from glory into the earth realm to live and to die for our sins. The gift of salvation – which is fulfilled in our redemption (God redeeming us unto Himself), not keeping record of our sins – declaring us guiltless, and then by an act of His grace – making us “into another man”.
The story of the transformation of Saul from a simple peasant into a King – is readily understood by all who receive Christ into our life. What often happens to us however is something that happened to Saul – getting the crown – accepting the royal title – and then failing to get instruction as to what it really means to be King!
Saul not many chapters later took his human intellect and decided that the instructions God had given him for battle did not make sense – and that God would be o.k. with the new plan he came up with. It cost Saul – his kingdom (1 Samuel 15: 1-23). Not only did it cost Saul his kingdom – his days on earth were beset with jealousy, fear, bitterness, and numerous attempts to bring down his successor (David).
Saul is not alone – he is a prototype of all of us who receive the goodness of God with salvation and blessing – and then fail to adhere to His instructions, his plan that He has set out for us – thinking that our plan is better – or “it doesn’t take all that”!
God wants us to share in His glory – the glory that shone brightly that first day when the Christ child entered this world – He wants everyday for us to experience the benefits of royalty (see tomorrow’s message). It is ours, it does belong to us, and all we have to do is follow a few simple instructions – the pathway that leads to life!
God Bless You and Yours,
