The Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 10
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11 KJV
4For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4 AMP
Christmas is my most favorite times of the year! It goes back to my childhood and teen years – even though much of the rest of the year was traumatic, whoever my brother and sister were living with at the time always tried to provide us with a good Christmas! It was often a highlight to an otherwise solemn year.
Christmas took on a different significance one year in my late teens when my stepmother took me to midnight mass at her church. The service was so beautiful, there was such peace – little did I know then that God was calling me by His Spirit and just a couple of years later my life would be dramatically changed due to my personal intervention with the Savior Himself!
There are many things I enjoy doing – being able to help brighten someone else’s world is high on my list, but the greatest joy is seeing someone who had no hope find the “blessed hope”!
As an educator, I firmly believe that having an education is an entry way to a new life. Yet I personally know many educated people who struggle with addictions that they lean on to cope with feelings of personal insecurity and fear. Education alone is not a panacea for a happy life – neither is a good job – a great house – a fancy car – beautiful clothes. The emptiness that permeates a heart without God is one thing that is common to man – all men – in all stations of life!
We are all leveled at the cross – we are perpendicular to a decision to elevate our life, or to remain on a plane where we will have to fight alone for our earthly existence. The best decision I ever made was to trust a God I could not see, to give me a life I could not envision…
Most of us are not even given a glimpse of what our life will be like A.C. – {After Christ} – we have to make a decision by faith that whatever happens will be better than what we know. Scripture declares that “this is the victory that overcomes the world – even our faith – and this is not just an idle promise – it is a truth we can stand on, depend on, and offer to anyone who wants to change from a life of defeat to a life of victory!
I have said it before in this Twelve Days – it bears repeating – God keeps His promises – and they are available to all of us – equally, across the board. There is not one human being born that does not at one time need to have victory over something that they are fighting with in this world of sin and sickness. They can have that victory – but it will cost them something – turning their unbelief over to faith – their doubts into hope – and their pessimism into expectancy- it is a free gift given to the believer that God allows to grow and expand in unexpected and marvelous ways at times when we need it.
On this Christmas Day – as you give gifts to those you love – don’t forget to give the gift that keeps on giving – your faith in the Christ child born this day over 2000 years ago – it is one gift that will never lose its’ value.
Much Love to You and to Yours,
