There is no one that can dispute that today history reached a milestone in the United States of America. The inauguration of the first African American President, though credited to the participation of the young voters, caused everyone from Baby Boomers and older, to know that indeed something happened that most of us thought would never happen! Whatever side of the political fence you are on, you had to take pride in this nation which has as its’ pillars – “certain unalienable rights that are among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” coupled with freedom and justice for all! These words became truer for America today than ever before!
Nations rise and nations fall, and they give the blessings of freedom to some and the penalty of chains to others. However, God issued some decrees in His Word that have always been true – and never had to be amended. Psalm 100:5 (NLT) says:
“For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
The record of HIS story as found in the Word of God records that faithfulness generation after generation after generation – and most of all points to that faithfulness being given to a people that did not deserve it – it was a gift of His grace.
As we embark upon a new chapter in this nation’s history, we can look to only one roadmap that will ensure success – this is true for our nation, this is true for our home. Psalm 33: 10 -12 (MSG) says:
“GOD takes the wind out of Babel pretense, he shoots down the world’s power-schemes.
GOD’s plan for the world stands up, all his designs are made to last.
Blessed is the country with GOD for God; blessed are the people he’s put in his will.” read more...

He’s Been Faithful! All of us have hopes, dreams, and expectations for the new year. None of us know for sure how things will turn out, but we live in hope that things will go as we desire. This winter, more than most, has turned my attention to having a renewed faith coupled with a strong desire to be like the Proverbs 31 woman who, “Is like a merchant ship, she brings her food from afar…she is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She watches for bargains…she extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household because all of them have warm clothes.”NLT read more...

Zechariah 10:1 Pray for rain in the time of rain…. These words came into my spirit one morning – seemingly from no where. I’ve learned that even when it seems like no where – that it is from somewhere – and that it is usually from God! My first thought, that it was from nowhere was based on the fact that I didn’t know the scripture location – I had not recently read it or mediated on it – and I had not heard it preached. Yet I knew it was scripture and I began my search to find out its’ address and why God was sending me this message. read more...
The Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 12
January 18, 2009
32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. [j] Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.
35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
37 “For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones will live by faith. [k]
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”[l]
39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. Hebrews 10:32-39 NLT read more...

The Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 7

“Give us this day, our daily bread.” Mt. 6:11
I wrote a stirring testimony about an hour ago and before I could send it somehow I lost it and didn’t realize it – so here goes again…
Last night I made the remark, “I don’t know how anyone could live in this weather without heat.” Just as quickly as I said it, the Holy Spirit checked me and reminded me of more than one occasion when I found myself (and my family) in weather like this – WITHOUT HEAT!
One of the greatest gifts God gave to me was my children – if you had asked me in college if I desired children I would have laughed at you. Even though I was the oldest of six children and was fiercely protective of them- I did not see myself in a maternal role! How many of you know that you don’t need to have a sense of humor – God has enough for all of us! read more...

The first time I was asked to speak in the Church at a women’s program – I was a teacher and could prepare a history lesson, but I had for sure never prepared a Bible lesson! The wise women I spoke to about this said to me that I would hear God give me a “word” to speak and I would know what to say -it would come from my heart. read more...
