There is no one that can dispute that today history reached a milestone in the United States of America. The inauguration of the first African American President, though credited to the participation of the young voters, caused everyone from Baby Boomers and older, to know that indeed something happened that most of us thought would never happen! Whatever side of the political fence you are on, you had to take pride in this nation which has as its’ pillars – “certain unalienable rights that are among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” coupled with freedom and justice for all! These words became truer for America today than ever before!
Nations rise and nations fall, and they give the blessings of freedom to some and the penalty of chains to others. However, God issued some decrees in His Word that have always been true – and never had to be amended. Psalm 100:5 (NLT) says:
“For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
The record of HIS story as found in the Word of God records that faithfulness generation after generation after generation – and most of all points to that faithfulness being given to a people that did not deserve it – it was a gift of His grace.
As we embark upon a new chapter in this nation’s history, we can look to only one roadmap that will ensure success – this is true for our nation, this is true for our home. Psalm 33: 10 -12 (MSG) says:
“GOD takes the wind out of Babel pretense, he shoots down the world’s power-schemes.
GOD’s plan for the world stands up, all his designs are made to last.
Blessed is the country with GOD for God; blessed are the people he’s put in his will.”
As a good Father or Mother, you would never put the responsibility of keeping your house safe for your children by putting it in the hands of a stranger. Instead you personally take responsibility to see to the extent possible that your house is safe and your children secure. And yet, we who know the power of prayer put up our hands and say there is nothing we can do to ensure the safety of our nation (and thus our homes) – and we put our faith in the hands of the government and if they fail, we blame them.
This day – we saw history made because over many years, through much sacrifice, and much bloodshed, the laws of this land changed to include a people who were outside the protection of the law. This was made possible because there were those who kept a vision in front of them of something they could not see possible with their eyes. There are yet laws that need changing, laws to protect, to include, and to raise up a people who are now outside of the law – we who believe God’s word must take Him at His Word and know that even now, especially now – we need to be those people, that country who He has put in His Will and as such, all people will live under His blessings!
God Bless You,
Maria

Thanks for encouraging me during times like these- to pray for our leader and this GREAT country! I really needed this today.
Timely Word…. Can’t stress enough the need for His People, in good or bad times, to depend and trust only in Him, not in circumstances or people!
